Tuakana Hostel Project Update 10

Week Ending 14.02.25

What an outstanding accomplishment for our Napier team working on the Tuakana hostel project. Our team have successfully achieved clearance on all asbestos work. Given the extensive asbestos contamination throughout the building, this required meticulous planning, careful sequencing, and precise execution. Well, done to everyone involved for successfully completing such complex and challenging scope of works.

As we transition into the demolition works our team are carefully reviewing methodologies and implementing key quality and safety controls. Due to the building being located on top of a hill, we are working closely with geotechnical engineers to determine safe tracking areas for our excavators including spotter locations, loading zones and all other aspects relative to operating plant and machine on a hill site.

We continue to work closely with local salvage company Sabre Timber to ensure we continue to salvage as much native timber as possible during the demolition process.

The scaffolding is down, and the Cat excavator and pulveriser is onsite ready to commence the demolition. Stay tuned for progress!
